    USA West National Parks

"Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce, Yosemite — the ultimate American road trip"

The American West is one long geological love letter — red rock canyons, arch-riddled deserts, granite valleys and geysers, all within driveable loops. A classic circuit links Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce, Arches and Monument Valley; add California for Yosemite and Death Valley.

    Best Time to Visit

April to June or September to October — summer is crowded and hot

    Apr – May

Wildflowers, mild temperatures, all park roads open by mid-May. Ideal for Zion, Bryce and Grand Canyon.

    Sep – Oct

Cooler days, golden aspen in Bryce, fewer crowds after Labor Day. Best all-round window.

    Jun – Aug

Yosemite waterfalls at peak; desert parks reach 40°C+ — hike at dawn only.

    Nov – Mar

Snow at Bryce and North Rim (closed), but South Rim Grand Canyon and Zion stay open and empty.

    Getting Around

This is a road-trip region — you'll need a rental car, and distances are big (Vegas to Grand Canyon is 4h30, GC to Zion another 2h30).

    🚗 Rental Car / SUV

The only realistic way to link parks. Pick up in Las Vegas, Phoenix or Salt Lake City. SUV useful for dirt approach roads.

    🚐 Campervan / RV

Cruise America, Escape and Outdoorsy rent RVs — cheap way to combine transport and accommodation.

    🚌 Park Shuttles

Zion, Bryce and parts of Grand Canyon run mandatory free shuttles in high season — private cars are barred from key roads.

    ✈️ Regional Flights

Small airports at Flagstaff, St. George and Page cut long drives.

💡 Buy the $80 America the Beautiful annual pass — pays for itself after visiting three parks (entry is $35 each).
