Hi, I'm Andreja — I've been traveling for 20 years, but I've been a solo traveler for the last 13 of them.
Here's the plot twist though: I didn't grow up dreaming of passports and packing cubes. I was 25 before I figured out that travel would become the loudest, most persistent voice in my life. Late bloomer? Maybe. Worth the wait? Absolutely.
It started with one flight. One ordinary flight that turned out to be anything but. Somewhere above the clouds, the world quietly got bigger — and I landed as a slightly different person than the one who took off.
The city waiting for me on the other side?
I still can't fully explain what that city did to me. Maybe it was the way the light hit the buildings, or the strange, particular smell inside Casa Batlló that I can still remember, all these years later. Maybe it was standing at a market stall, staring at a piece of fruit I'd genuinely never seen before in my life, and thinking: where else in the world have I been missing this? The streets seemed to be showing off just for me, and the whole trip had the feel of wandering straight into someone else's fever dream and never wanting to wake up. Whatever it was — it rewired something. I came home, bought my first proper suitcase, and made a quiet, slightly dramatic promise to myself: I'm going to travel.
Twenty years, countless flights, missed buses, and unforgettable strangers later — I'm still keeping that promise.
