Summer is intensely hot, often exceeding 35 to 40°C, making midday sightseeing uncomfortable. Winter days are mild, but nights can drop to around 5°C, so pack accordingly.
What are common tourist scams in Marrakech?
Unsolicited 'free' henna application that leads to a demand for payment, self-appointed guides who lead you off your route and then ask for money, and claims that a street or attraction is closed to redirect you toward a shop are all commonly reported. Politely declining and walking on is usually the easiest response. Always insist that petit taxi drivers use the meter, since not doing so is a common way visitors overpay.
Do you need a visa for Morocco?
Many nationalities, including UK, US, EU, Canadian and Australian citizens, can enter Morocco visa-free for tourism for a set period, commonly up to 90 days. Check current requirements for your specific passport before booking, since rules can vary and change.
