    Colombia

"Coffee mountains, Caribbean walls, and salsa nights"

    Colombia at a glance

    Best time to go
December to March is the main dry season, and July to August is a shorter dry spell in many regions. These are also the busiest and priciest periods. The Caribbean coast is often best from about December to April, and Andean cities such as Bogotá and Medellín have two drier windows, roughly December to February and June to August. Humpback whales pass the Pacific coast from roughly July to October.
    How long to stay
We'd suggest ten days to two weeks for three regions, for example Bogotá, Medellín or the coffee region, and Cartagena.
    Who it's for
Travellers who like variety: colonial cities, mountains, coffee country and coast.
Might not be for you if
You want one climate. Temperatures follow altitude, so Bogotá is cool while Cartagena is hot and humid all year.

Colombia is the comeback story of South American travel — walled colonial Cartagena on the Caribbean, coffee farms in the green Zona Cafetera, and Medellín's reinvention into one of the continent's coolest cities. Warm, cheap, and endlessly hospitable.
